The book seeks to explore the biography of Prof. Dr. phil. habil. Karl Czok (1926-2013) and his work as an urban, regional, and national historian. It is a study that strives to find viable paths during complicated years between materialist and traditional historiography. Helmut Bräuer, born in 1938, Prof. Dr. sc. phil., was at the University of Leipzig until 1992, and then at the universities of Vienna, Basel, Salzburg, and Trier. He has numerous publications, including those in the Leipzig University Press, on topics related to late medieval and early modern urban, craft, social, poverty, mentality, and historiography history.
