The book contains the three children's poems "Die Lokomotive", "Das Rübchen" and "Vogelversammlung". Julian Tuwim was famous for his onomatopoeic painting, this talent is especially evident in the poem "The Locomotive", which was translated fabulously by James Krüss. A locomotive that sets itself in motion slowly, then faster and faster, with all the steam and smoke, is very skilfully staged linguistically, one actually seems to perceive from a distance the sound and panting of the locomotive. The "little turnip" from the second story finally grows into a standing turnip, but it is not so easy to snatch it back from the earth ... And what do birds do when they have a problem? They're holding a meeting. But in this "bird meeting" everybody is twittering and twittering, everyone wants to give his best, and a new one is born.
