Today, several decades after the dramatic years in which Spengler lived, history clearly demonstrates his reception through the recurring interest in him, indicating that he played a role that extended beyond the ideological horizon of the early 20th century. From today's perspective, we could respond to Friedrich Meinecke, who in 1923 questioned whether Spengler was more of a curiosity or a phenomenon of great significance, that the latter assumption is more likely to be true. Moreover, even those who might not concede this importance to Spengler, which can be derived from the rigor of his thought and the tension of his morality, can hardly deny him the central role that arises solely from the fact that his upheaval of ideas has left deep furrows behind.
