Remote control systems, such as cable networks for control and safety technology in railways, have been installed along railway tracks in the past. Alongside the developments in cable-based electrical engineering, these systems have been developed and optimized. These systems struggle to meet the demands of operational locations that are very far apart. Wireless network concepts will profoundly change the system landscape. Wireless communication requires service concepts of packet-switched internet or equivalent communication networks. The associated radio transport service must be considered qualitatively separately, as transport routes no longer run over a single channel, but rather over a network of transport routes. For quality monitoring of wireless transmission channels, a replacement for the Gaussian normal distribution has been established.
