"Poetry Slam - An Oral Culture Between Tradition and Modernity" is an interdisciplinary theoretical approach to the phenomenon of "Poetry Slam" by the experienced and well-known poetry slammer Sulaiman Masomi. In addition to its historical development, the scientific subject of Poetry Slam is analyzed from media studies, social sciences, and literary studies perspectives, and is embedded in the pop cultural discourse. With his master's thesis, Sulaiman Masomi fills a gap in the Poetry Slam literature world, as there has been almost no secondary literature available so far, except in the form of guides and manuals for writing and performing one's own stage texts. He examines the phenomenon of Poetry Slam from various academic viewpoints and takes us on a journey.
