Product details

The Amber Room - a masterpiece of craftsmanship and a symbol of the Nazi plundering of European art houses during World War II - is still considered lost today. Created in the early 18th century on the orders of King Frederick I of Prussia, the Amber Room was gifted to Tsar Peter the Great in 1716. It was seized by the German Wehrmacht in 1941 and displayed in Königsberg, but the artwork vanished amidst the chaos of war in the spring of 1945. Since then, historians, treasure hunters, and intelligence agencies have been tirelessly searching for what is arguably the most valuable art treasure of humanity. Authors Mike Vogler and Mirko Kühn have been following a promising lead regarding the Amber Room to Thuringia for years, which ends at a secret bunker facility in the Altenburg area. In the book presented here, they report alongside the official accounts to this day.
