Product details
The German-Austrian social theorist and social philosopher Leo Kofler (1907-1995) represents a 'unimpaired, vibrant Marxism' (Oskar Negt). Throughout his life, he engaged with themes of history and the present, philosophy and ideology critique, anthropology, and aesthetics. The author and Kofler biographer Christoph Jünke approaches in this volume the enduring relevance of the socialist humanist, clarifying the contours of his philosophy of practice and drawing a connection from socialist classics to postmodernism. Leo Kofler was a prominent representative of German post-war Marxism. Born in Austrian-Hungarian Eastern Galicia, raised in the 'Red Vienna' of the interwar period, and interned in neutral Switzerland during fascism and war, he was appointed to the University of Halle in 1947.
