In working with our material, students learn that writing was once done with goose feathers, that corporal punishment existed, and that classes were held on Saturdays. The children conduct interviews with eyewitnesses who were enrolled about 60 years ago. With the help of an easy-to-understand crafting guide, they create their own writing instruments and try their hand at writing in Sütterlin script. They compare their class schedule with a historical schedule, learn about the daily routine of children back then, and reflect on the rules that applied in schools and classrooms at that time. The arrangement of the classroom and the supplies of the students are also addressed.
