In light of the growing interest in educational processes outside formal institutions such as schools or universities, a discussion has also emerged in recent years regarding clubs as places for lifelong or informal learning. This empirical study by Stefan Hansen explores these learning processes within the framework of voluntary engagement in clubs. The author investigates how competencies are acquired in clubs, whether there is a transfer of these skills and knowledge to the outside world, and to what extent the club influences competency acquisition processes as a structural context for action. The results show that clubs serve as learning environments where professional and social knowledge, social skills, and organizational abilities are informally acquired, which can also be applied outside the club.
