In the context of the PISA studies, there is still a significant need for the promotion of reading competence. To improve text comprehension, the use of various components has proven effective, which together create a structured training program. Based on scientific research and years of practical experience, a volume has been developed that gathers all relevant methods for promoting skills in reading comprehension, which serve as a meaningful supplement to German lessons for students in grades 4 to 6 across all types of schools. The program includes the use of reading strategies, oral reading and extensive reading methods, as well as sight vocabulary exercises, while also addressing the starting conditions of non-native speaking students and possibilities for interdisciplinary application. Together, this forms a systematic connection of various methods.
