These last words, as a collection, resemble a compilation of errors and inaccurate transmissions, noted Ernst Jünger on an index card. He viewed his collection as a mosaic, whose pieces may be randomly shaped, yet together they create a complete image. Therefore, the last words were of interest to him even when they were attributed to the deceased by the survivors or put into their mouths. Throughout his life, Jünger collected this canon of the dead or had friends send him pre-printed postcards. Now, this collection is being published for the first time in a selection by Jünger expert Jörg Magenau in a bibliophile volume.
