The book series "Excursion into the Past" holds great potential for extracurricular subject teaching at the primary level. To unlock this potential, the Professorships for Didactics of Subject Teaching at the University of Applied Sciences FHNW in Liestal (Switzerland) are developing educational materials. These consist of two elements: (1) The foundational volume, oriented towards didactic-methodological approaches to extracurricular subject learning in the local area, conveys those aspects of enabling, accompanying, and assessing learning processes outside the classroom that are independent of the regional focus of the individual volumes in the "Excursion into the Past" series. (2) With specific reference to the individual volumes of the "Excursion into the Past" series, learning folders in PDF format are being created, which can be used by teachers for planning their lessons.
