Product details
Lichtpause tells a day in Algiers, from early morning to night, and takes us on a long walk through the city. The voice of the narrator blends with the voices of her friends, who comment, interpret, question, and answer. It addresses the air, the traffic, the sea, the presence of violence, money, oil, and the layers of pasts that accumulate in the architecture. It explores the European perspective on Algiers and the possibility of friendship, despite the echoes of history and the current situation. The book was created during two stays of the artist in Algiers, between September 2016 and April 2017. The work on the text and drawings was primarily an opportunity to listen, observe, and find a perspective that is searching and does not necessarily claim to understand. A perspective that continually questions itself.
