For Szymborska, love is part of everyday life, something that has been felt and experienced since time immemorial; thus, she refrains from grand words and is sometimes ironic. She maps out moments, and with the simplest linguistic means, she achieves the high art of condensed contemplation of the world. Szymborska, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996, is regarded as the creator of her own poetic language; none of her poems are alike.
