Since their first appearance ten years ago, the Loveless Legends have almost become legendary themselves - and perhaps also the world to which their lovelessness was directed. But love, like its opposite, clings to its object: Hildesheimer's stories capture the image of a world that still deserves to be viewed with the astonished gaze of a child and at the same time with the wickedness of a satirist; it blushes under these gazes, but it suits her.
