For over 50 years, there have been Catholic communities in Germany that use the mother tongue. What are their experiences, what are their strengths and weaknesses? Do they contribute to integration? Or do they hinder it? What perspectives do the migrants themselves have? How do joy and hope, sadness and fear manifest in them? In his study, David Hüser explores these questions for the first time using the example of Spanish-speaking migrants. He analyzes a wealth of sources to clarify the historical experiences to date. Based on this and his own qualitative interviews, he ultimately develops key points for future pastoral care.
