The short novel "Guilt," one of the central gems in Emmanuel Bove's oeuvre, quickly sold out as a Lilienfeldiana edition. In celebration of the great storyteller's 120th birthday, it is being reissued and supplemented with significant discoveries: nine previously unknown stories from the 1930s and 1940s that had appeared in newspapers and have now been rediscovered. While the novel depicts a poor failure trying to atone for a supposed guilt that only he is aware of, the stories portray the respectable madness of ordinary citizens. Whether it's about the dreamed reward for a lifesaver, the debts of a deceased person still to be collected, embarrassing parents, or other moral dilemmas, the tales undoubtedly showcase Bove in his coolly ironic best form.
