The authors present a new approach in this study for examining the effects of doctor-patient interactions. Using the example of primary pediatric care, they empirically demonstrate personal competence as a relevant factor influencing medical practice. The subject of communication does not allow for adherence to the strict research standards of so-called evidence-based medicine. While the study does not promise practitioners specific action recipes, it provides impulses and guidance for reflecting on their own actions in order to realign them where necessary.
