Product details

In his book, which makes no claim to historical accuracy, Hannes Binder connects the well-known legend of the Venediger in the Alpine region, who searched for stones in the Alps during summer, turned them into gold, and built their proud city with it, with the fictional story of Sebastian Casser from Altdorf, who travels to Venice around 1600 and becomes an apprentice to Tintoretto. After the death of his master, he marries Tintoretto's 70-year-old daughter at the age of 40 to save the family business. The only painting by Casser that has survived can be seen in the church of San Giorgio above the exit. Posterity considers it a mediocre painting, and it is unsigned. Hannes Binder presents a text-image collage in his well-known pencil-shaving cardboard technique, mixing fragments of reality (from the architecture of the city of Venice and Tintoretto's biography) with the Venediger legend.
