Cla Biert primarily wrote prose and is regarded as the most significant Romansh storyteller. He authored the novel "La müdada" and numerous short stories that depict the Engadine peasantry on the brink of modernity. The story collection "Das Gewitter / Betschlas malmadüras" presents a new edition of his out-of-print works. This volume makes available, alongside the original texts, translations by the author himself as well as by writers Andri Peer, Oscar Peer, and Iso Camartin in a new bilingual Romansh-German edition. Included are early stories such as "Pangronds," which features young protagonists, and "L'hom strom," which describes the custom from Scuol where students build and burn a straw man. With "Das Gewitter/Betschlas malmadüras" or "Stimmen/Suot l'alosser," the author introduced the erotic element into Engadine literature.
