"What made me become a traveler?" This question marks the beginning of Otto Ehlers' entertaining travelogue. The former estate owner from Pomerania originally traveled to North India in 1890 for health reasons, seeking better recovery. In the following years, Ehlers explored India and Southeast Asia. In 1895, he was shot during an expedition. Some of his travel reports are titled "By Boat through the Himalayas," "Royal Hospitality," "Elephants! Elephants!," "Uncanny Islands," and "German Roast Pork and Ceylon Tea." This is a reprint of the original edition from 1920.
