Erik-Ernst Schwabach (1891 - 1938), publisher, author, and patron, was part of one of the most influential banking families in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century. He published "Die Weissen Blätter," which quickly became known as the "Magazine of the Expressionists," and he himself published plays, suspenseful stories, erotic texts, as well as writings on the history of morals. The present story was first published in 1914 under the pseudonym "Ernst Sylvester." This is a reprint of the second edition from 1917.
