At the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is captured in New York with the help of Newt Scamander. However, Grindelwald puts his threat into action, escapes from custody, and begins to gather followers, most of whom are unaware of his true agenda: to elevate pure wizards to rule over all non-magical beings. To thwart Grindelwald's plans, Albus Dumbledore recruits Newt, his former student from Hogwarts, who agrees to help once again, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead.
