Product details

Supported communication is suitable for all individuals who cannot communicate in a way that is desirable for themselves and for social interaction. What these individuals have in common is that they cannot adequately express themselves using spoken language. However, the causes of this impairment are extremely diverse. The personal communicative abilities of those affected also vary greatly. This book describes the large group of supported communicators from a unique perspective. To fairly represent each individual and their respective competencies, four target groups of supported communication are outlined: individuals who communicate pre-intentionally (Group 1), individuals who predominantly communicate pre-symbolically and only partially understand spoken language (Group 2), and individuals who communicate verbally-symbolically.
