Supported communication utilizes various forms of communication that enable individuals who do not communicate verbally to connect with others, exchange ideas, and live autonomously. Its manifestations are as diverse as its users – supported communication speaks many languages. This book illustrates that for everyone involved with supported communication, there is always a need to acquire additional interdisciplinary languages. In addition to "classic" communication systems, the authors address less familiar languages, including organizational language, health insurance language, clinical language, and diagnostic language. The goal is to bring together different fields of expertise and facilitate dialogue among them to promote the participation of individuals who communicate with support in all areas of life.
