Product details
Private collections are characterized by discontinuity. Preferences change, and significant life events for collectors lead to reorientations. While public collections are also shaped by individuals, their continuity is rarely questioned. Leadership positions are filled anew. But how do private collections continue after biographical upheavals? "Look at Me!" is a case study on the development and generational transition of private collections, using the Hanten-Schmidt collection as an example. The couple Klaus F. K. Schmidt, a private collector, and Sasa Hanten-Schmidt, who works professionally in the art world and is a generation younger, have opened up about this process to curators, critics, and companions. Sasa Hanten-Schmidt traces the genealogy of their collection and describes the path to the conscious decision to maintain a joint collection.
