The Commissioner and the Samurai

For fifteen years, Annegret Bartsch has been a commissioner in the Vietnam department of the Berlin police - for ten years, she hasn't brought anyone to court. While the job increasingly frustrates her, tensions at home are also growing. Her husband turns out to be a grumbling recluse, and their 8-year-old daughter Lizzie is becoming more and more of a nuisance. When the Japanese man Yuki O. is found shot in the pond of a park, Annegret Bartsch is initially faced with a mystery. Many clues suggest that Yuki O. was part of the Japanese Yakuza and had clashed with the clans of the Vietnamese mafia. Her investigations lead the commissioner into a labyrinth of Vietnamese restaurants, import-export companies, grocery stores, and flower shops. But no matter whom she talks to: she encounters a wall of silence everywhere.
