Is social progress in the European Union threatened by social dumping? Are uniform social minimum standards the only way to achieve the goals of improving working conditions and raising living standards enshrined in community law? This volume addresses these questions from two perspectives: the allocation-theoretical analysis clarifies whether social dumping is a form of failure in location competition; the political-economic analysis shows the impact of advancing European integration and globalization on the actions of politicians.
