There is no sociology of pregnancy. This book aims to bring it to life. It understands being pregnant as a fundamental social process: as a communicative fact that is acknowledged and spreads, as a web of relationships between the unborn, those carrying the pregnancy, co-pregnant individuals, and the public, as well as a collective state of expectation into which women enter through a social impregnation. The book traces this process based on a long-term exploratory study.
