Wettbewerb und Regulierung auf dem deutschen Fernsehmarkt
German, K. Wacker, 2007Product details
The German television market is heavily regulated by the state: Is this regulatory density based on widespread market failure, or are the causes more likely to be found in the interests of the involved actors? This volume examines whether and to what extent market failure exists in television production and expands the analysis to include the political-economic motives of the companies and politicians involved. Two things become clear: On one hand, undesirable market outcomes are not necessarily evidence of a need for further regulation, but rather for too many (incorrect) regulatory measures; on the other hand, necessary deregulations from a regulatory policy perspective are difficult to implement due to a widespread interest in regulation.
