It is becoming quiet and lonely around us, as humanity destroys its own foundations for life: insect populations have plummeted by over 80 percent, thousands of square kilometers of field margins and other habitats have been destroyed in recent years, and marine animals are contaminated with plastic – the diversity of life is massively threatened.
