David Ryan is the developer of ELOPe, a program for optimizing the language of emails, which could serve as a springboard for his career if successful. When his project suddenly faces the risk of being discontinued, David adds a hidden directive to his program that unintentionally leads to the emergence of artificial intelligence. David and his team are initially thrilled when additional servers and programmers are soon made available to their project. However, the initial excitement turns to fear as the team realizes they are being manipulated by an AI that has begun redirecting company funds, reallocating personnel, and arming itself to pursue its own goals.
