Since 2014, Bärenreiter has released the six symphonic poems of the cycle 'My Fatherland' by Bedrich Smetana in new urtext editions, edited by Hugh Macdonald, individually. The present edition brings together all parts of this unique work of the international orchestral repertoire in a conducting score. The editor chose the autograph scores as the main source. The first editions of 'Vyšehrad', 'Vltava', and 'From Bohemia's Woods and Fields' contain several printing errors and a number of inaccuracies due to misreading of the manuscripts; therefore, these first prints, along with the four-hand piano arrangements by the composer, served the editor only as secondary sources. The first prints of the other parts of the cycle were published only after Smetana's death and were thus not considered in this edition.
