To cope with an illness, the exchange and dissemination of health-related knowledge to patients and their relatives is essential. Caregivers have the closest contact with the sick - a better culture of conversation would significantly enhance the quality of care. Instead, conversations between caregivers and patients are becoming increasingly rare. This book addresses this development: it presents concepts for improving nursing interaction work that have been developed in recent years within the framework of the Network for Patient and Family Education in Nursing e.V. and at the Department of Nursing Science at the University of Witten/Herdecke. Through brief case studies, the full range of problems arising from an illness or need for care is illustrated.
