Ambulant supported living communities, where older adults live together in small groups in a self-determined, family-like, and everyday-oriented manner, are an interesting alternative to traditional care in nursing homes. The involvement of relatives and civic-minded individuals is a core element of this concept. The book examines the significance of civic engagement in ambulant supported living communities and analyzes the factors that promote and hinder such engagement. In doing so, the author fills a gap in the research literature on living arrangements for older people in need of support.
