In the dementia scene, new care concepts are constantly brewing, and research delivers news week after week about the supposedly imminent breakthrough. Now even the government has formed an alliance for people with dementia. It couldn't be going better, could it? However, Peter Wissmann disagrees. While much positive progress has been made in recent years, the idea that dementia is a self-runner has also led to serious misdevelopments: Goals are only vaguely defined, interventions are chaotic and poorly thought out. With grand gestures, things are done, done, done - as long as the conscience is soothed. Good ideas easily get lost in stylish phrases and comfortable rituals. On the other hand, new and old misconceptions are on the rise: People with dementia are to be placed in a beautiful new world.
