Our dignity is rooted in care. Both body and soul require it every day. At the same time, care is associated with the revelation of the human condition. If care devolves into a mere sequence of tasks, it loses its connection to dignity. This can lead to shame for those involved in the care process, who are particularly vulnerable to harm. In this revision of her standard work, Katharina Gröning explores questions of care for particularly elderly and vulnerable individuals, focusing on biographical aspects of both caregivers and care recipients, as well as from cultural, developmental psychological, and institutional analytical perspectives.
