Product details

At the beginning of the 20th century, the fight against cancer increasingly came into focus for medical professionals. It was recognized early on that, alongside medical treatment, psychosocial aspects played an important role. The goal was to encourage patients to continue their treatment, ensure their funding, and also find care options for patients who could no longer be treated. These demands on the caregivers of the sick led to the establishment of cancer care and the collaboration of doctors, nurses, and social workers, which had hardly existed until then. This book presents, for the first time, the history of cancer care over a period of 100 years, allowing for an exploration of patient care and the work of the involved groups and institutions.
