Two gringos, a hiking trail, six banana republics of Central America, the narrow corridor between two oceans, are visited by only a handful of daring adventurers and reckless gamblers. Among them are Julia and Eddie, armed only with a backpack, a lot of courage, and a hefty dose of naivety. A journey begins where not a single eye remains dry – and septic accommodations in Costa Rica and nearly exploding toilets in Nicaragua are just the least of their troubles. They encounter treacherous volcanoes and terrible hospitals, meet corrupt border officials and marriage-minded Cubans, get acquainted with wild horses and life-threatening boat rides, and are not spared from absurdities like square trees and golden frogs. In the end, the two adventurers find themselves in communist Cuba.
