The journalist, essayist, and writer Peter Hamecher (1879-1938) had his public coming out at the age of 20 when he confessed in the magazine "Der Eigene": "In the storms of my 15 years, it was where the image of friendship love first appeared before my eyes in fiery colors, and every connection with women as a gender was lost to me." His early writings can be seen today as very personal commentaries on the emancipation movement of homosexuals. They discuss friendship love in literature, take a stance on current events, and express the author's feelings in poetry. This volume contains five individual publications from the years 1901 to 1932, as well as studies on Herman Bang, Gottfried Benn, Stefan George, Heinrich von Kleist, John Henry Mackay, and others.
