With a foreword by Tsoknyi Rinpoche and an introduction by Jack Kornfield. The teachings in this book are based on two extended meditation retreats. The instructors draw from their experiences in various Buddhist traditions. From the vast treasure of Buddhist practices, particularly relevant teachings are highlighted, while simultaneously countering sectarian forces through an attitude of mutual respect. These paths of practice have, in both Mahamudra and Vipassana, two complementary aspects that are essential for awakening, much like the two wings of a bird are necessary for flight. The first quality of mind training is wisdom – the realization of the ultimate nature of the mind and all things, freed from deceptive and tormenting mental states. The second aspect is great compassion, expressed through tireless loving action for the benefit of all beings. These two form the common foundation of the meditation paths presented here.
