As a retiree in his country house in Meung-sur-Loire, Maigret writes his memoirs. He reflects on his childhood, his beginnings in the police force, and his first encounters with Madame Maigret, who a certain Georges Simenon has not portrayed entirely accurately in his novels – much like many other things. Commissioner Maigret has some corrections to make. Maigret's 35th case, if it can even be called that, takes place in Saint-Fiacre in Allier, Nantes, Paris, and Meung-sur-Loire.
