In his Frankfurt apartment, the best friend of former police officer Lars Gruber is found murdered. The murder-suspect pilot and diver Michael Danner soon dies in Thailand. However, Gruber suspects that his death is merely faked and that Danner has gone underground in Phuket, which leaves Gruber restless. Following a tip, he travels to the vacation and diving paradise. While he searches for the murder suspect, his former colleague, Frankfurt detective Jenny Becker, investigates in Germany and uncovers some inconsistencies. As soon as Gruber arrives in Phuket, events spiral out of control, and instead of enjoying sun, sand, and coral reefs, he is confronted with a murdered prostitute, and a dive takes an unexpected turn.
