Product details

Kostheim, located at the confluence of the Main and the Rhine, was first mentioned in a document by Charlemagne in 790 as "Copsistaino." Over the following centuries, the town experienced a tumultuous history, significantly influenced by its proximity to Mainz. Incorporated into the larger neighboring city in 1913, Kostheim has been part of Wiesbaden since the end of World War II. This illustrated book documents the development of Kostheim from the late 19th century to the late 1960s. Approximately 200 mostly unpublished photographs reflect life in the wine-growing community. They depict the residents of Kostheim at work in agriculture, viticulture, or in one of the many factories. The reader also gains insight into private daily life, club activities, and social events. Ralph Keim, a freelance journalist, and Hans Dötsch, who is very engaged in the community, contribute to this work.
