Product details
Germany, late 1930s: Albert is a cheerful young man, despite losing his parents at an early age and having to constantly adapt to find a home. When World War II begins, Albert is drafted and fights as a soldier in Norway and Russia. He survives, albeit narrowly and severely wounded. Finally returned to his homeland, Albert does not fall silent like so many others of his generation; instead, he becomes a vehement opponent of the war, repeatedly recounting what he has experienced. He also becomes a loving family man, experiencing many wonderful things in the young Federal Republic. The illustrator Sebastian Jung tells the moving story of his grandfather through the medium of graphic novels: designed like a notebook, the work alternates between text, drawings, original documents, and photos, connecting in an extraordinary way.
