Hedonism is defined as a cheerful way of life rooted in European antiquity that embraces the maximization of pleasure and enjoyment, in stark contrast to the common notions of late Roman decadence. From a hedonistic perspective, the meaning of life is life itself, with the ideal being a successful day. In light of historical and current issues—such as illness, aging, death, industrial food production, factory farming, stress, and work overload, as well as advertising and misinformation—the urgent question arises of how to create successful days. This fundamentally addresses the question of what constitutes a good and happy life. To achieve this, information based on sound knowledge is necessary. The contributions in this volume present historical, sociological, psychological, and philosophical approaches to solutions.
