This octopus-like little mother, this golden Prague, is a city that draws its charm from the simultaneity of past and present, of fantasy and reality. In Prague, it is difficult to draw boundaries; the transitions between the various cultures that have lived here for centuries, alongside and against each other, are fluid. For centuries, Prague was the center of European Jewry, where outstanding Jewish scholars worked, fundamental religious texts were written, and legends were created - like Rabbi Löw and the Golem - becoming part of the mythological world of the Vltava metropolis. Here, a Jewish ghetto emerged with its own town hall and its own health insurance system, and legendary synagogues were built.
