Living memory
German, 2008Product details
Former prisoners of the Ravensbrück concentration camp formed the Austrian Ravensbrück Camp Community (ÖLGR). In 1947, 60 years ago, they established this association, which was the first of its kind in Austria and served as a model for later-founded camp communities. These were 60 active years shaped by national and international political as well as cultural changes in the handling of Austria's National Socialist past and the victims of the Nazi regime. From the very beginning, the camp community saw itself as a politically non-partisan association of former Ravensbrück prisoners. It identified and continues to identify its tasks in representing the interests of survivors and their relatives, in the area of political education, in commemorating the crimes of the National Socialist regime, in preserving the camp community, and in integration.
