The artist, who passed away around the turn of the millennium, developed an intense graphic language in his early years that provided new impulses for photography at the time. His style is unique and unmistakable. This publication offers a comprehensive overview of this significant artist, from whom many important aspects paradoxically remain unclear. The work provides a new perspective on Mario Giacomelli by highlighting his working methods as well as the unconditionally coherent structure that runs throughout his entire oeuvre and defines his characteristic style. For Giacomelli, art and life were inseparably linked, and each photo series was created in close connection with all previous ones. For the first time, his late work, created shortly before his death, is also presented here.
