The Pilgrim's Journey is an autobiographical text by Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), the founder of the Jesuit order. In his account, he describes the crucial phase of his eventful life, during which he suffers a severe war injury as a young nobleman and experiences a conversion through the discernment of spirits. He embarks on a pilgrimage, ends up in the Inquisition's prison, has mystical experiences, and studies at the University of Paris. Additionally, he forms an international group of friends in the Lord and establishes the Society of Jesus in Rome. Ignatius vividly shares these experiences from nearly two decades with the reader and proves to be a spiritual master who has personally experienced what he teaches in the Spiritual Exercises.
